70 ‘graduate’ from Iligan City Community-Based Drug Rehab Program

Iligan City – Under the Iligan City Government’s campaign against illegal drugs and sustainable anti-drug program together with various national and local government offices, a total of 70 drug surrenderers under Oplan Tokhang have “graduated” from a Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) in Iligan City.

Drug surrenderers which comprised by six barangay- Buruun, Digkilaan, San Roque, Luinab, Maria Cristina and Hinaplanon, received their certificate and 5kilo sack of rice during their graduation held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall on November 20, 2019.

The graduation was not the end of the change to come among the former drug dependents who chose to start a new life free of the substance.

The graduates have undergone holistic approach to rehabilitation which was conducted by various facilitating teams consisting of social workers, medical practitioners like doctors, psychologists and nurses. There are also volunteers from the religious groups to help in the values formation of the drug dependents as part of working out on their hope to change focused on the healing of the body, mind, and soul through counseling and other therapeutic sessions.

The event was initiated by the Iligan City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ICADAC) and in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Department of Health (DOH).

It was also graced with the presence of other distinguished guests namely Vice Mayor Jemar L. Vera Cruz, Councilor Rhandy Ryan Ong ,the Chairman on Committee on Drugs, Councilor Petronilo Pardillo, PNP Spokesperson Police Major Jovane Cabusas, CBDRP Supervisor Dr. Gino Meteoro, PDEA representative, other police personnel and concerned agencies of government including other religious group.
