Culmination of the 26th National Children’s Month Commences

(Wednesday, 5th day of December 2018)


City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and National Youth Commission (NYC) were brought together with the 26th National Children’s Month kick-off celebration which highlights the theme “Isulong: Tamang Pag-aaruga Para sa Lahat ng Bata” on December 4, 2018 at the City Public Plaza.

A total of 157 Day Care Workers coming from the 44 barangays of Iligan City, City Officials headed by Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Committee Chairman, Councilor Ryan Rhandy Ong graced the kick off activity together with Ms. Grace Joy Saquilabon, Head of CSWD and Councilor Belinda Lim.

Various activities in the said event include: Folk Dance Contest, Children’s Story Telling, Best Day Care Center Vegetable Garden and Raffle Draw Winners with the cash prizes for the declared winners.

The National Children’s Month will be celebrated for the whole month of December which aims to consistently advocate the rights of our children and raise education on child protection and violence against children especially the rampant problem of children’s exploitation concerning cybercrime issues.

The celebration seeks to increase knowledge of parents and guardians on how to handle or educate their children with emphasis on the significant role of the family as the cradle of the society in providing a strong foundation of the right values and as well as in safeguarding the constitutional rights of a child.
