Iligan City Arnis Delegates Earned 21 Medals in the 1st PEKAF World Invitational Championship

ILIGAN CITY — Young arnis fighters from Iligan City earned 21 medals, with six golds, seven silvers and eight bronze from the World Stick Fighting Tournament held in Cebu City. The city’s 17-man team bested other athletes from 11 countries who participated in the 1st Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) World Invitational Competition held in SM Seaside, Cebu City on April 6-8, 2019. Lorna Mata, City Sports Officer, lauded the achievements of the Iligan City athletes during the flag raising ceremony at the Anahaw Amphitheater for giving pride and honor to the city in the first-ever international event. They competed with other countries like China, Korea, India, Iran, Mexico, USA, Qatar, Oman, Belarus and Russia. The said success and notable achievements of the team was indeed fulfilling and greatly contributes to the attainment of the Iligan City athletes.
