Iligan City Inaugurates Permanent Balay Silangan Reformation Center

The City of Iligan recently held the Blessing and inauguration of another and permanent Balay Silangan Reformation Center (BSRC) at Sitio Fatima, Barangay Abuno on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. This is the 3rd Batch of Reformatory Program initiated by the city government of Iligan under the administration of Mayor Celso G. Regencia, Vice-Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz, and the 17th Council.

Balay Silangan is a drug reformation program and an alternative intervention for drug personalities who are not eligible to undergo medical treatment and rehabilitation in facilities supervised by the Department of Health. It is also one of the requirements for a city to be declared as a drug cleared city. It offers a temporary refuge for illegal-drug offenders to transform them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society.

Cuya Jr., Vice Executive Judge of Iligan City and Lanao del Norte, and Presiding Judge of RTC Branch V, Iligan City Hall of Justice- Hon. Silvestre D. Orejana Jr., City Director of DILG Iligan- Edward G. Bhagwani, Program Manager of DILG Iligan -Elizabeth G. Buna, City Administrator and Program Director of BSRC- PGen. Leony Roy G. Ga, Center Administrator of TESDA RTC 10- Mario S. Labisig, SP Chairman of Committee on Moral Recovery & Rehabilitation- City Councilor Rhandy Ryan Francis A.
