Iligan New lab facility to combat ASF

(Tuesday, 16th of February 2021)


ILIGAN CITY –   In partnership with the city’s combat against African Swine Fever (ASF), a Private Organization  Philippine College of Swine Practitioners, International Training Center on Pig Husbandry, and ADM Animal Nutrition initiated a project and the establishment of a Laboratory  Facility with complete equipment, reagents, supplies, and materials for free and immediate examination of hog blood samples at the City Veterinarian’s  Office, earlier today, February 16, 2021 (Tuesday).

The said project is called “BANTAY ASF sa BARANGAY” which aims to conduct surveillance, monitor, and control the spread of ASF from infected to non-infected areas in both commercial & backyard farms.

Barangay Abuno, Tipanoy, Dalipuga, Digkilaan and San Roque are the five (5) pilot barangays for hog blood samples collection.

During the launch,  Iligan City Mayor Celso G. Regencia expressed his sincere gratitude to the private and non-government organizations on their support and assistance to the city’s programs.

He highlights that stronger partnerships among stakeholders and collective action will help solve the problem on ASF and facilitate recovery of the city’s hog industry.

The event was initiated by the City Veterinarian Ma.Dahlia M. Valera and Staff, and participated by Councilor Sorilie Christine Bacsarpa, Committee Chair on Agriculture, Col. Leony Roy Ga, City Administrator, Carlene C. Collado, RED10, Councilor Cesarve Siacor, ABC President, Barangay Captains, Barangay Kagawads, City Agriculture, Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Quarantine Officer, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel.
