Iligan seeks Financial Grants for displaced workers
Sunday, 01 March 2009
The Iligan City Council has passed a resolution requesting President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for assistance to its displaced workers. City Council Committee on Livelihood Chairman Joe Zalsos has moved for the inclusion of Iligan City in PGMA’s livelihood programs.
Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, Bahrain and Dubai may have come to recruit domestic helpers recently but the number of displaced workers from other industries abroad and in Iligan has still risen considerably which prompted the city to seek support for its OFWs and local workers from companies which have been severely affected by the global crisis.
