LGU-Iligan Holds Family Day 2018

(Monday, 24th day of September 2018)


Iligan City – The theme “Tungo sa Maginhawa, Matatag at Panatag na Pamilyang Pilipino” featured through family-friendly activities and performances which commemorates the 26th National Family Week Celebration today September 24, spearheaded by the  committee chairman, Councilor Ryan Ong.

Activities were carried out from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. at the Rizal Freedom Park (Public Plaza), Iligan City. The program started with an acknowledgement of the participating groups, invocation, dancing of the Iligan March by the family steering committee and followed by the community singing of the song “Welcome to the Family”. The city government officials headed by Mayor Celso Regencia together with Grace Joy Saquilabon, CSWD Department Head and PSSUPT. Manuel Sukarno B. Alvarez, city police director also graced the event.

On this day, City Mayor Celso Regencia delivered an inspiring message urging parents being the primary teachers of young children to continue to put real effort to build & take full responsibility of their family. “Ang pamilya maoy dugukan, sinugdanan sa gobyerno nga malampuson. Diha palang sa pamilya kung ato barugan ato tagsa tagsa ka mga katungod dili mudaghan atong problema. Diha sa pamilya ato tarongun pag giya ato mga anak. Wala unta’y mga adik nga mga bata kay lagi nag adik adik sila kay dili kakaon, ka eskwela tungod kay ang mama ug papa pabaya sa ilang mga anak”(The family is where people converge, it is the origin of a successful government. If only we would start to stand for our rights in our family, our problems would lessen. In our family, we should properly guide our children. We wouldn’t have children who abuse drugs as they turned to drugs because they were not well taken care of.)  The mayor said.

The LGU Iligan Family Day concluded by the presentation and giving of plaques for the First Family Award and giving of prizes to the winners of the poster making and Talentadong Pamilyang Pilipino.

This annual celebration aims to strengthen the bond among officials and employees. Encouraging improvement on the quality of public service as one working family towards a developed city and bring out the significance of families as fundamental units of humanity. It also gives the government a chance to know more about the problems, strengths, and needs of families. All these activities would eventually develop into permanent, strategic good habits & become core social and spiritual fabrics of children’s characters equipping them as they step into society sooner than later to develop and contribute for the betterment of society.
