Mayor Regencia Restores Curfew

ILIGAN CITY– Iligan City Mayor Celso G. Regencia has issued a memorandum for the restoration of curfew hours in the city starting Wednesday evening. Regencia signed the memorandum re- implementing City Ordinance No. 17-6613 or the ordinance imposing a city-wide curfew hours and banning people from roaming, loitering, staying and sauntering in the streets of Iligan City,from 10 PM to 4 AM for 18 years old and below (minors) and from 11 AM to 4 AM for 18 years old and above (adults).

The memorandum cited that “the total crime incidents of the city has significantly increase mostly due to traffic incidents resulting from intoxication of the victims”. PCOL. Michael M. Pareja, City Director of Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) were advised to enforce RA 10586 or “the Anti-Drunk Driving Act of 2013”, especially during night time.

Last month, Regencia lifted the city-wide curfew due to the celebration of the month-long Diyandi Festival so that the Iliganons and visitors from neighboring localities could enjoy the activities. However, with the restoration of curfew, exemptions will be made for minors who go to school in the evening as long as they can present their school identification card (ID) and the public are urge to take precautionary measures.
