MCGR Carried Out a Cleanup Drive in Barangay Tambacan

(Friday9th day of August 2019)

Iligan City – Equipped with his good pair of rubber boots and a rake, Mayor Celso Regencia, together with Col. GA, the City Mayor’s Multi Tasks Force Group, Public Services Division (PSD), Anti-Littering Task Force (ALTF), CLEAN AND GREEN, and Iligan City Police Office initiated a Cleanup Drive at Purok 8, Bulog, Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City on August 8.

(I am glad that the mayor called for this coastal cleanup here in Brgy. Tambacan. I hope that the barangay council of Tambacan will help in this drive because this can’t be done by a bunch of people alone and in just a few days. The people of Iligan are very pitiful.)” Giando Kalimpon, Head of Community Affairs Office said in an interview during the activity.

Mae Labra, 2019 Brgy. (Let’s all join forces for our Brgy. Tambacan, because this is embarrassing. This is unacceptable  having other agencies and the police clean up for us, and nobody from the residents helped. I’m asking the residents of Brgy. Tambacan that cleanliness should start from our family.)”

Tambacan, paghuman nato, sila nay mo-continue. (I’m asking our barangay officials, Brgy. Tambacan is just the start, after our help, they should continue,” City Director Michael Pareja said. (They will be the ones liable to DILG, because as I know, there is a law in DILG that the barangay is under their [barangay official] responsibility, we’ll just aid them),” because there were no barangay officials present during the cleanup.

Hopefully this would be the beginning and the cleanup drives would fan out to the other barangays as the city director mentioned.
