Philippine Army’s Mechanized Infantry Division Commemorates its 8th Activation Anniversary

Iligan City – The Mechanized Infantry Division, Philippine Army celebrates its 8th Activation Anniversary at H2nd Mech Inf Bde, MID, PA, Brgy. Maria Cristina, Iligan City.

City officials from the Municipality of Kauswagan and Municipality of Linamon: Col. Thomas Sedano Jr., 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander; Hon. Imelda Q. Dimaporo, Provincial Governor of Lanao del Norte; Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, Chairman of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF); and Mgen Gilbert I. Gapay AFP, Mechanized Infantry Division Commander, graced the event. The program proper started with a national anthem and invocation led by a Catholic representative, Fr. Allan D. Telmoso and Muslim Representative, Imam Ali Munib Mangondato.

Lt. Dela Peña served as presiding officer and keynote speaker in the absence of Gen Carlito G. Galvez during the event. Lt. Dela Peña expressed his message to the command for the coming year for the Mechanized Division to continue to modernize into a multi-dimensional force capable of confronting future threats in modern battlefield by pursuing a collaborative working force with the LGUs and NGO’s. Moreover, he urged everyone to work together to establish peace and development and to contribute overall peace movement.

After the message, an audio visual presentation and awarding was done. Hon. Imelda Q. Dimaporo, provincial governor of Lanao del Norte gave a short inspirational message where she stated that the activation of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion is in line with the perspective of becoming more capable, more responsive and pertinent armored force as a defender of peace and order especially in conflict affected areas.

The event was a gathering of all commanders, senior leaders and civilian employees from different government agencies of Lanao del Norte. It ended with a mass singing “Awit ng Armor” led by Pvt. Crisje A. Cardona. It is a precious moment for all personnel of the command both officers and enlisted personnel to include the civilian employee wherein everybody was given a chance to call on the Commander to express their gratitude for the accomplishments of the previous years and to reaffirm this year’s commitment to the flag, people, and the country.
