Vaccine organized an Overview of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment & Vaccination Program in Iligan

(Wednesday, 3rd of February 2021)

ILIGAN CITY – the City Health Office in partnership with the newly assembled task force to focus on the operation and expansion of the COVID-19 Vaccine organized an Overview of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment & Vaccination Program for media practitioners at the Brgy. Tibanga Gymnasium, on February 3.

Mr. Ed Krishna Alivio, Disease Surveillance Officer of the City Health Office represented the City Health Office and Emergency Operations Center – Health Cluster head Dr. Belinda “Bunz” Lim inaugurated the said event.

COVID-19 is a serious, life-threatening virus that is currently ravaging the world and sparing no one. Anyone can be a potential carrier of the virus, regardless if a person is showing symptoms of the viral infection or not, and may spread the disease to friends, family, and anyone within the person’s vicinity.

It was explained how vital the vaccine is to help stop the spreading of the virus and hopefully bring about herd immunity among the residents of Iligan City. There were clinical trials of all the vaccines and all vaccines must be safe and effective before they are authorized or approved, therefore there is nothing to worry about getting these shots. The potential benefits of the COVID-19 Vaccine outweigh the potential risks (if there are some). Having vaccines for different viral infections and diseases have been existing a long time ago with similar concepts, however, as this specific vaccine is new, experts don’t know for sure how long the protection offered by the vaccine could last. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine offers immunity to the virus and the LGU is urging the public to discard their worries and trust science. These vaccines exist to ensure public health and safety and in no way harm the general public. Doc Bunz puts it simply as adding another layer of protection to your body in addition to the face masks, face shields, and social distancing we already committed to having. Vaccines work directly with your immune system so your body will be able to counter the virus if ever you will be exposed, therefore this is even better than any covering you can have on your mouth and nose (though the latter could not still be discarded). The combination of the masks, face shields, other protocols, and the vaccine offers the best protection against the virus.

This activity is only one of the many upcoming activities as the CHO and LGU will reach out to more groups within the city, to ensure the dissemination of information and the guarantee the commitment of every Iliganon to end this pandemic as soon as we can.
