Iligan City Christmas Village 2021

(Friday, 24th of December 2021)

Iligan City – The LGU Iligan, Spearheaded by Mayor Celso Regencia and Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz, opened the Christmas Village at the Iligan City Wet Park to the public on December 16.

Despite the realignment of budgets, being in the middle of the ongoing struggle against the Covid-19 virus, and the ravage of Bagyong Odette, the spirit of Christmas is felt as lights twinkle and an extraordinary yuletide season was still celebrated in Iligan.

“Everybody is welcome to visit the Wet Park,” Shayma L. Daison, OIC City Tourism Office, stated in an interview. “The goal is to make this into an attraction for everyone, to bond the family and most especially the kids. We are hoping to make this into an attraction extending beyond the Christmas season, hopefully, we can develop it further and add more decorations and improvements. May the people of Iligan enjoy the lights and decorations. I am wishing the Iliganons happy holidays and an amazing New Year,” she added.

Due to circumstances and the directive from the CMO, there has been no grand opening ceremony of the said Christmas village, however, Mayor Regencia paid a personal visit to enjoy the scenery in Iligan City Wet Park on December 23.

The “Christmas Village” was made possible by the initiative of the City Mayor’s Office and in partnership with different offices: Organization and conceptualization were led by the City Tourism Office, CAD, CEO for technical labor, CGSO, and Youth Affairs for additional manpower, and Anti-Littering for the maintenance and cleanliness.

The IATF reminds everyone to follow health protocols: wear face masks and keep a safe distance from one another.
