Iligan City Is Now a Testing Center For The 2020/2021 Bar Exam

Iligan City – For the first time in history, our city is home to one of the three testing centers in Northern Mindanao for the 2020/2021 Bar examination. The venue of the Bar examination here is at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology which is held today, February 4 and 6, 2022.

In Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), the Bar examination also simultaneously held in Xavier University and Liceo de Cagayan of Cagayan de Oro City.

The Office of the Bar Confidant has implemented strict measures for admission into the testing centers due to COVID-19 restrictions. Examinees were required for antigen tests before the exams, and those who are found positive took a confirmatory RT-PCR test.

As recalled, the bar examinations for 2020 were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Supreme Court decided to hold the tests simultaneously with the 2021 law graduates.

The Court also decided to reduce the coverage and shorten the duration of the 2020-2021 online bar examinations. Instead of four successive Sundays, the Court decided to hold two-day examinations, which will cover four comprehensive sets instead of the traditional eight subjects.

The four sets are 1.)The Law Pertaining to the State and Its Relationship with Its Citizens (formerly Political Law, Labor Law, and Taxation Law), 2.) Criminal Law, 3.)The Law Pertaining to Private Personal and Commercial Relations (formerly Civil Law and Commercial Law), and 4.) Procedure and Professional Ethics (formerly Remedial Law, Legal Ethics, and Practical Exercises).

The first two sets were taken up today Feb. 4, while the other two sets will be on Feb. 6 (Sunday).
