Iligan City Wet Park Turnover Ceremony

(Thursday, 17th of June 2021)

Iligan City – The Iligan City Wet Park was formally handed over to the LGU of Iligan on June 16.  Through Mayor Celso G. Regencia’s administration, LGU Iligan proposed the Wet Park, which was sponsored by the City Planning & Development Office (CPDO) and the City Engineer’s Office (CEO). The project’s goal is to not only offer a public park for Iliganon residents’ recreational needs but also to help impound rainfall and reduce floods in low-lying regions nearby. Due to continuing improvements for the general public’s safety, the Wet Park is not yet completely available to the public. After the last phase of the project is finished, an announcement for its formal public opening will be issued. The Iligan City Wet Park is funded by the Department of Budget & Management (DBM) under the “Green Green Green” Program, approved by Secretary Wendel Avisado under Duterte’s Administration. The City Engineer’s Office is pushing for other solutions to the flooding problems in Brgy. Bagong Silang and Brgy. San Miguel. They recently discovered chokepoints and a double barrel culvert drainage system at St. Michael’s Academy that was blocked with silt and rubbish and chose to convert it to open drainage to allow drainage to flow. To relieve the regular floods, further drainage improvement initiatives are now being planned.
